Lavington Netball Club History
(Thanks to Pam Graetz for providing me with the following information)

The Lavington Netball Club has come along way from it's humble beginnings of 1993 when it was decided that every O&M League club would field an A & B grade team for a Saturday competition.

From the start Trish, Leslie and Leonie took on the leadership roles and had many hats to wear - including team delegate at meetings, coach, committee member, treasurer, plus the day to day business of holding it all together.

The team to take to the court for Lavington was largely determined by the football club, drawing on supporters, wives and girlfriends with the main focus on enjoying the game. The club had it's first success on the ladder in the first few years.
Then in 1995 Leonie and Leslie stepped down and Trish stepped in as coach.

The 1996 season saw the introduction of a 'C' grade to the competition, bringing Vivien to the club as their coach. It was also Trich's last year as coach.
With the higher standard of umpires and the level of netball being played, Lavington as a club was beginning to take itself seriously. Trish and Vivien jointly coached A grade, Trish coached B grade and Vivien C grade. A grade made it to the preliminary final and C grade were put out in the first semi final. The final placings on the ladder showed our dedication and commitment to the game.

Then in 1997 we won our first premiership, Norma joined the club as coach for A & B grades and the first formal committee was formed with Leslie at the helm. The pre-season trials started in November and for the first time Lavington entered teams in the Monday night competition at J. C. King Park, a precident that was to carry on for four years. It was another successful year for the club with B grade making it through to the elimination final and C grade took out the clubs first C grade premiership.

The 1998 season saw more changes happen - with Norma taking on the mammoth task of coaching all grades. Trish became our president and pre-season training started in November. Our teams were beginning to be consistently competitive. Our on court success included a premiership win in A grade with B grade reaching the elimination final. We were also very proud to congratulate Emma Dallinger on winning the leagues Best and Fairest in B grade.

As we moved into the 1999 season we celebrated with Katie Scammell and Kristy Young on reaching 100 games. Joan stepped in to coach the B grade and Norma stayed with A & C grades.
The pre-season trials were fully established and started in January 2000.. B grade played an excellent season only being put out in the preliminary final. By the close of season 2000 we had said a sad farewell to Trish who stepped down as President after giving the club 8 years of her time, commitment and excellent leadership. We also said good-bye to Norma who had coached with Lavington for 4 fabulous years. We celebrated with Jackie Kilmartin on her 100th game.

As we go into season 2001 with Veronica as our president, Kelly coaching A grade, Sally B grade and Gayle C grade, we look forward to a highly motivated and successful year on and off the court. Well done to Lanie Parker who recently celebrated her 100th game for the club
